The UK is notorious for its biting cold in December, so if you’re seeking a warm escape and an adventure, this “underrated holiday destination” might be the perfect spot for a city break.

Travel influencer Rob Adcock has recommended it as a must-visit location. On TikTok, he questioned: “Why aren’t more people talking about this place?” He revealed that return flights are available for a mere £26, with the journey taking less than two hours.

Rob described the cost of living there as “ridiculous”, confessing: “Beers cost you about £1.20 in a cafe and cost as little as 77p in a supermarket.” He praised the food as “banging” and said it was available at “giveaway prices”. So, where is this hidden gem?

It’s Porto, in Portugal. “I took €100 in cash, and I’m struggling to spend it,” he confessed.

Rob shared a humorous anecdote about “translation issues” when ordering food with a friend, which resulted in them receiving three whole chickens and a mountain of chips, all for just £18. He joked about the embarrassment of their excessive order.

“The weather is sound, the lowest it really gets is 14 degrees,” he said, adding his TikTok clips were filmed in “the middle of December” while the UK was blanketed in snow.

He also mentioned it’s “easy to get around” with efficient public transport links. Rob boasted about snagging a bargain on accommodation, sharing he and a mate split the cost of a £32 two-bedroom flat that was not only modernly decorated but also situated “right in the centre of the city”.

The TikTok user enthused about his extensive travels, admitting he “can’t remember” a time he was more “impressed” with a destination.

“Put Porto on your list,” he urged, also mentioning a top tip for travellers where he claimed “use Skyscanner’s flexible search option to find the cheapest flights”.

“I went to Porto earlier in the year and absolutely loved it,” one person responded in the comments. Another chimed in: “I’m going Porto in Feb, looks amazing.”

Meanwhile, a TikTok user expressed their preference for Lisbon as their favourite spot in Portugal.
