Chloe Madeley has finally opened up about the real reason behind her split from husband James Haskell, revealing the exact moment she knew their relationship was over in a new video.

The 37-year-old fitness expert and former rugby player, James, 39, officially ended their relationship last October after five years of marriage and more than a decade together.

Speaking on the latest episode of Olivia Attwood’s So Wrong It’s Right podcast, Chloe felt ready to discuss the breakdown of her marriage, including what led her to end such a long-lasting romance, reports the Mirror.

She said: “I’m one of those people that needs structure and routine. My ex, and I, I think, one of the reasons things became so hard for us was because he thrives in chaos. His schedule, I don’t even remember when he was in England for a full week. He’s all over the place and I just can’t do that. Can’t live like that.

“I think I knew that I was really unhappy,’ she added. “And I think he knew that he was really unhappy too. But I don’t think either of us ever would have predicted that we were going to break up. Ever.”

Identifying a specific moment when she realised things couldn’t be fixed, Chloe shared: “I swear to God it was just like one day, I remember exactly where we were – I remember the day, the time, the temperature, the outfit, everything – I just remember like just saying it, “I don’t think that we should do this any more”, but really meaning it and it kind of went from there.”

Pinpointing a specific time in which she realised things were irreconcilable, Chloe explained: “It doesn’t just happen – it didn’t for us anyway, it was farmed up as time passed, and it’s still like that now.”

Chloe, the daughter of TV icons Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, confessed she could “never” have anticipated their split or predicted its conclusion. She also disclosed that they had been separated for about a year, after first discussing the possibility in August. Unable to pinpoint an exact date for the break-up, Chloe explained that they gradually drifted apart over several months until they realised “nobody’s fighting for this.

“Despite the separation being the right choice for them, the transition to co-parenting their two year old daughter Bodhi has been challenging. The star admitted that encounters at events had been somewhat ‘odd’, with Chloe confessing she “kind of relived it sometimes”, struggling to separate the present from their 11-year history.

However, despite initial discomfort, she remains optimistic that she and James can establish a stable, happy friendship, regularly meeting while amicably raising Bodhi.
