Iconic Bond Girl has very cheeky reason for tipping Aaron Taylor-Johnson as 007

A beloved Bond Girl has thrown her support behind Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the next James Bond for a rather cheeky reason.

Britt Ekland, who starred as Mary Goodnight opposite Roger Moore in 1974’s Man With The Golden Gun, has some very strong views on the future of the franchise as producers hunt for the next 007.

Aaron has been named the most handsome man in the world according to science, and she thinks the 34-year-old actor could be a ‘very interesting’ choice for Daniel Craig’s predecessor.

Britt, 82, even referenced Daniel’s iconic swimming trunks scene in Casino Royale when she was weighing in on the debate during Friday’s episode of Good Morning Britain.

‘He’d look very nice in those swimming trunks,’ she teased when asked if Aaron – who is the favourite to take on the role – would be a good fit for Bond.

She added: ‘He’s a great actor, very interesting!’

Britt is desperate to find out who will follow the likes of Daniel, Roger, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan as 007.

‘I think that will be impossible for me to say,’ she pondered on the future of the role. ‘I think it’s about time we had a new Bond. I miss the excitement of Bond.’

However, she had some very strong views on the idea a woman could take on Ian Fleming’s iconic creation.

She argued: ‘No! Because he couldn’t. Bond was written was a man, and it has to be a man, and it has to be an English man!’

Britt has fond memories from her time working as a Bond Girl, even if she suffered a painful injury when some planned explosions ‘burned her bottom’ during filming.

‘What happens is that they set it up, they tell you, “Here will be an explosion, there will be one,” and they time it. Unless you are a second too early or too late, you will get burned,’ she explained.

‘And because I was always in a bikini, it burned my bottom! I threw myself onto the ground and [Roger] just pulled me up. He saved my bottom!’

While she enjoyed playing Mary Goodnight, Britt acknowledged the awkwardness of her costume, particularly when Bond was wearing a suit, and everyone else on set was fully dressed.

‘If you think that, this is your work environment and every day you come here and you sit in a bikini while everyone else is in suits and jackets, and hoodies, and you sit in a bikini,’ she told GMB host Kate Garraway.

‘That’s what it would feel like.’
