McDonald’s fans are in for a treat next week as the fast food giant is not only bringing back the cult classic McRib, but the chain’s menu is also getting an overhaul.
Every six weeks some of the items get switched up, and this will be happening once again on October 16.
From Wednesday fans will no longer be able to get the Philly Cheese Stack or Chicken Big Mac. Instead it’ll be the McCrispy Deluxe joining the line-up, along with the McRib (while supplies last).
A few other fan-favourites are making a comeback for , including the Toffee Apple Pie, a , and the (£1.59 for mini or £2.19 for full size).
But that’s not all, a few brand new items will be released this week, including (£2.59), and (£2.19, only available in Large). Plus are joining the breakfast menu (£1.49 for single portion).
The new hot drinks feature a toasted marshmallow flavoured syrup, and are topped with whipped cream and a toasted marshmallow dusting.
While the new Cheese Bites are different from previous versions as they feature Mozzarella and Emmental cheese in a smoky caramelised onion breadcrumb coating, and served with a BBQ dip. These come as either a portion of five (£2.49) or as a sharebox (£6.79).
The pie (£1.99), which was first released last autumn, is made with crispy pastry that’s filled with a spiced apple compote, toffee sauce and toffee pieces.
And on the subject of sweet stuff, the Halloween M&M’s McFlurry (£1.59 for mini or £2.19 for full size) is made up of soft dairy ice cream swirled with M&M’s and Halloween sugar shapes, topped off with Galaxy chocolate sauce.
Burger fans will want to be quick to nab the McRib, which is expected to sell out very quickly after its re-launch (fans have been waiting 9 years to have it back). The sandwich, made with pork, barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions, will cost £4.49 on its own or £6.19 as part of a Medium Meal.
Alternatively, chicken lovers can order the McCrispy Delxue for the next six weeks. This fan-favourite burger is chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating topped with hot and spicy mayo, caramelised onion compote, seasonal lettuce, bacon, red onions and a cheddar cheese slice. All of this is then packed into a sourdough style bun, and will cost you £5.99 (or £7.79 as part of a Medium Meal).
This comes after McDonald’s unveiled its brand new lunchtime meal deal that costs just £5.
As part of the deal, you can choose between either a Cheeseburger or Mayo Chicken, and then you also get Medium Fries, a Medium Carbonated Soft Drink, and a side of four Chicken McNuggets for the set price.
The deal gives a saving of almost £2.50 compared to buying all the items individually, and you are able to nab the four Nuggets, which aren’t usually available to buy separately.
As such Maccies claims it’s not just ‘value for money’, it’s an offer that’s ‘truly unique’.
McDonald’s customers will be able to take advantage of the deal in participating restaurants from 11am onwards. But the catch is that you have to go into the restaurant to claim it, as it’s not available on delivery.
This is perhaps the closest thing to an ‘adult’ Happy Meal that we can get in the UK, and customers are desperate for the chain to sell one here, after a version was recently launched in Spain to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the TV sitcom Friends.
Each Happy Meal box is decorated with a Friends-themed design, and yes, the toys are based on the characters. Maccies fans can collect little figurines of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Ross.
As for the food, the adult Happy Meals come with a choice of burger, as well as fries and a drink. And because it’s McDonald’s Spain, there are a few burger options that we don’t have here, such as the CBO (a chicken burger with crispy bacon, crispy onions, cheese, lettuce and a creamy pepper CBO sauce), and the McRoyal Delux (the only beef burger on the menu with tomato). Alternatively you can opt for classics such as the Big Mac or Quarter Pounder.
If all of this weren’t exciting enough, the box meal also comes with a limited-edition sauce. ‘Monica’s Marinara’ was created especially for the collab, and while there’s no description for the ‘special sauce’, marinara is typically made with tomato, garlic, herbs and onions.
