The first-ever official Irn-Bru cocktail has been unveiled.

Irn-Bru and Funkin Cocktails have announced a new Irn-Bru Vodka Martini that will be available in supermarkets and shops across Scotland starting this month. The ready-to-drink product marks the first time that Scotland’s other national drink has been used in an officially released cocktail.

According to makers, the Irn-Bru Vodka Martini combines Funkin Cocktails’ “signature nitrogen infusion” and the “bold and unmistakable” flavour of Irn-Bru. The limited-edition beverage swaps out the soft drink’s bubbly fizz for a “unique velvety texture” that “delivers a taste of Irn-Bru in a way it’s never been experienced before”.

The announcement of the cocktail is accompanied by a “cheeky” new short film. The clip depicts a group of friends talking about all the places they’ve enjoyed a good ‘beep’, with the ending revealing that they are speaking about the places they have drank an Irn-Bru Vodka Martini.

Head of Brand at IRN-BRU Kenny Nicholson commented: “We are really excited to be partnering with the cocktail experts at FUNKIN COCKTAILS. We know consumers are always looking for ‘something new and different’ and the FUNKIN IRN-BRU Vodka Martini delivers just that — a perfect blend of the phenomenal IRN-BRU flavour and bold spirit with FUNKIN’s mixology expertise to create the first ever alcoholic IRN-BRU ready to drink cocktail.

“For IRN-BRU fans, our new collaboration delivers BRU in a way that it’s never been tasted before — all thanks to an infusion of nitrogen to give it a velvety smooth texture — it’s only on shelves for a limited time, so get your hands on this BRU-nique cocktail while you can.”

Funkin Cocktails’ Head of Brand Ashley Birch-Ruffell added: “FUNKIN has constantly pushed the cocktail category forward to bring new and innovative products to consumers — and this is bigger than ever before.”

Martinis make up more than 20 per cent of all cocktails served in the UK, while 54 per cent of cocktails contain vodka. With a “continuing rising demand for bitter-orange flavour profiles” according to Irn-Bru and Funkin Cocktails, the Irn-Bru Vodka Martini offers a bar-shaken cocktail that can be enjoyed on the go or at home this autumn.

The Irn-Bru Vodka Martini will be available for a limited time in supermarkets and shops across the UK. It will be sold as 200ml cans and eight-packs.
