AUSTIN, Texas — In just a few days, the Texas Longhorns will take on the Georgia Bulldogs at Austin’s DKR Stadium.
Before kickoff begins, fans can head to Longhorn City Limits for a free concert, featuring Grammy-nominated Austin-based rock band Spoon.
The event starts at 2 p.m., with Spoon set to close out at 4 p.m. on the University of Texas at Austin’s LBJ Lawn.
Who is spoon?
Since 1993, Spoon has been performing hits like “The Underdog,” “The Way We Get By” and “Anything You Want.”
The group of five received a Grammy nomination for their most recent album, “Lucifer on the Sofa,” which was released in 2022. They were named as “one of the greatest American rock banks” by TIME.
The band has more than 1 million Spotify listeners and recently shared an extended version of its 2014 album, “They Want My Soul.”
Ten albums later, the band will visit UT Austin, headlining the event presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co.
“Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Austin’s own iconic Spoon making their debut LCL appearance before an epic SEC football showdown,” Vice President and Folger Family Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said.
Austin-based performer DJ Mel will open the concert at 2 p.m., followed by Afrobeat group Hard Proof and, finally, Spoon will end the show at 4 p.m.
Shortly after Longhorns City Limits, the Longhorns and Bulldogs play at 6:30 p.m.
