David Tennant has become a household name thanks to his role as the titular character in BBC One’s Doctor Who. Now, the actor is sure to gain further acclaim as he stars as TV network boss Lord Tony Baddingham in the Disney Plus series, Rivals.

The racy new series, which is based on the best-selling books by iconic British author Jilly Cooper, is coming to the streaming platform this week. It boasts a star-studded cast that includes Aidan Turner, Danny Dyer and Katherine Parkinson.

David, 53, who has also starred as DI Alec Hardy in the BBC crime drama Broadchurch, will definitely impress audiences worldwide with his latest performance.

What are David Tennant’s most famous roles to date?

Scottish actor David Tennant is one of the UK’s most celebrated actors, having brought the most popular iteration of the Doctor to life in Russell T Davies’ era of Doctor Who between 2005 and 2010.

Aside from playing the tenth Doctor – a role he recently reprised in 2023 – he also won critical acclaim for his portrayal of DI Alec Hardy alongside Olivia Colman’s Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller in BBC One’s Broadchurch.

David is also a frequent collaborator with esteemed Welsh actor Michael Sheen, with whom he stars in Amazon Prime’s Good Omens, which first aired in 2019.

He also joined the Marvel universe when he played the villain Kilgrave in the superhero series Jessica Jones, which aired between 2015 and 2019.

Additionally, David has enjoyed an impressive stage career, portraying the titular character in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2008 production of Hamlet, which was later adapted for television.

Who is David Tennant’s wife?

David Tennant met his wife Georgia Tennant under rather unusual circumstances, as she once played his daughter, Jenny, on BBC One’s Doctor Who.

The 39-year-old actress, previously known as Georgia Moffett, is also the daughter of Doctor Who legend Peter Davison and his actress ex-wife Sandra Dickinson.

In 2008, David and Georgia appeared on-screen together in the Doctor Who episode entitled The Doctor’s Daughter, where she portrayed the central character’s artificially created adult daughter.

The pair started dating after meeting on set and got married in a low-key ceremony in 2011, with a close friend telling members of the press at the time: “David and Georgia are madly in love. They have tried to keep everything quiet and the wedding is for family and closest friends only.”

Georgia first made her TV debut in 1999 when she was aged just 15, appearing as Nicki Davey in Peak Practice.

She is probably best known for her recurring role as Abigail Nixon in The Bill, which she held from 2007 to 2009.

Does David Tennant have children?

David Tennant and his wife Georgia Tennant share five children together.

Georgia already had her eldest child, 22-year-old Ty, from a previous relationship, with David later officially adopting him as his own.

The pair went on to welcome four other children: Olive, 13, Wilfred, 11, Doris, eight, and Birdie, four.
