LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (Gray News) – A 12-year-old boy died when a tree fell on top of him while he was playing with a friend in his backyard around noon Monday.
Officers were able to free the boy from under the tree and give him CPR. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Investigators determined a gust of wind knocked over the tree that hit the boy.
The Lawrence Township School District said it will have counselors and therapy dogs available this week to assist students and staff.
