Amazon has slashed the cost of a popular heated throw in time for the winter months – and it is said to be “better than central heating.”

Whether we like it or not, it’s officially getting colder outside, which means we’ll want to stay cosy indoors. If you want to keep your heating to a minimum, then electric blankets have become fairly popular for their lower running costs.

One that has rave reviews is the Dreamcatcher Heated Throw which has a 4.2 star rating based on over 6,000 reviews. Said to cost “as low as 3p per hour”, it’s an energy-saving hero that will keep you warm without racking up the heating bill.

Right now, you can bag it for the colder weather in a “limited time” deal that has reduced the cost by 36 percent. Retailing at £59.99, it can be yours for just £38.24 – a decent saving of £21.75 off the RRP.

This 160x120cm heated throw features nine heat settings that get you “toasty in no time”. If the cosy heat lulls you to sleep, then don’t worry, as there is a timer function that will automatically turn off when it reaches the time you selected.

Crafted from a ‘luxury’ soft fleece material and weighing only 1.4kg, shoppers say this lightweight throw is “perfect for wrapping up in” during the chillier season. It’s also easy to pop into washing machine, thanks to its detachable controller.

With over 4,000 five-star reviews, the Dreamcatcher Heated Throw has become a popular buy among shoppers who say they are “able to leave central heating off” ever since they purchased it.

One delighted customer wrote: “I tried a different heated blanket before this one and ended up returning it as it wasn’t warm at all. Then did some research and bought this one. It’s fantastic. Hot if you want, warm for hours if that’s better, comfy, good size for one And just about does two also. Better than central heating.”

A second agreed: “Love it keeping me warm while on sofa. Saving on central heating too. Snug as a bug xx.”

Another five-star review read: “Was able to leave central heating off and the two of us snuggled down on the sofa under the throw. Nice and big. Lovely and warm. 5*.”

And someone else gushed: “One of my best buys ever. I am able to switch off Central Heating in the evening and just wrap my Dreamcatcher around me while I watch TV. It’s toasty warm and economical. I calculate that it pays for itself in a couple of months due to energy savings.”

However, one shopper unhappy with the design wrote: “The blanket is soft and looks lovely but the wires are easy to feel, the controller is heavy, bulky and twists the edge of the blanket. The controller is close to the blanket so that it is hard to keep it uncovered at times. Some parts of the blanket get nice and warm but I often can’t tell that some sections are on.”
