BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood issued a warning to viewers as she shared the latest forecast.

The 62-year-old Scottish meteorologist was back on TV screens on Wednesday (October 16) morning alongside Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson, presenting the latest headlines.

After revealing that severe gale-force winds are expected for the weekend, Carol explained: “Looks like we will have strong winds for some but across the Northwest we could have severe gales so that is something to watch out for, particularly if you’re travelling or maybe camping for example but the position of it may yet change so that’s one we’re looking at closely so just wanted to give you a heads up.”

Sally asked: “Carol, that is really useful to know. It’s Wednesday today, how long will we have to wait for Sunday’s forecast to be firmer? ” Carol replied: “Just a day or two, Sal. With each passing day it becomes firmer. So it really is one we’re watching so tomorrow we’re hoping to have a better idea on where it is going to go.”

Ben joked: ‘And if you stay there does it not come because it’s hidden behind you?” A baffled Carol asked: “What are you saying? You cheeky thing, Ben. ” Sally stepped in saying: “I’ll be having words with him.” A sheepish Ben said: “I’m in trouble now. “

On Tuesday’s (October 15) programme, presenters Sally and Ben shared a laugh over a contentious conker championship, where an angry complaint emerged against a winning contestant who also served as the judge in the event.”

Accusations flew that he had won by using a prohibited metal conker; however, the accused maintained that while he did possess such a conker, it was never used in the game and was only carried in his pocket for a bit of fun.

The episode brought humour to Sally and Ben as the story of the conker incident played out on screen, right before a prompt from producers shifted their focus to the upcoming segment, the weather.

Engaging Carol, who was standing by in the studio, Sally queried about any insights into the British autumn tradition: “I wonder if Carol has any top tips for those of us who celebrate conker season?”

Carol, taken aback, couldnt help but respond with laughter, cheekily replying: “Thanks for that Sal,” alluding that she was less than thrilled by the question. No, is my guess on that, Sally quipped in response, somewhat caught off balance.

Despite trying to keep the banter lighthearted without disclosing her sincere views on conkers, Carol gamely remarked: Maybe I can conquer the weather?

Carol’s attempt at humour fell flat, prompting her to admit: “I’m failing miserably,” according to the Express. However, her colleagues Sally and Ben were quick to offer support, telling her she was “too good”, before swiftly moving on to the weather segment.
