Scots comedian Elaine C Smith visited her good pal Janey Godley at the hospice where she is currently receiving end of life care for her terminal cancer.

The 63-year-old, who has had a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer since 2021 before it sadly spread, took to X to share a snap of her and the Two Doors Down star, 66, who she hailed as the “Queen of my comedy heart”.

Janey delighted fans by sharing two photos with Elaine where they could both be seen smiling for the camera as they sat on the hospice bed while the mum-of-one held up a Kindness & Co candle and a bouquet of flowers from the actress.

Captioning the post, Janey wrote: “Lovely flowers and gifts from the Queen of My comedy heart Elaine C Smith”.

Janey and Elaine previously starred together on BBC Radio 4 show Loose Ends in 2022 and Elaine also teamed up with the Scots comedian, for the third part of her lockdown series of shorts, Alone in 2020.

During Elaine’s 2020 BBC documentary, ‘The Moments That Made’, Janey appeared on the show to talk about how about how much of a huge inspiration Elaine had been to her.

The Glasgow-born star, who found viral fame during the pandemic with her dubbed pastiches of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings, told viewers: “If she hadn’t been her, I wouldn’t be me.”

So fans were ecstatic to see the two Scots comics back together once again, following Janey’s heartbreaking announcement that she was receiving palliative care last month.

Janey’s followers flocked to the comments underneath the post as one wrote: “Lovely. How delightful to see “youse twos” together. Hope you enjoyed the visit, with lots of humorous laughter and chat. Have a good day, dear Janey.”

A second replied: “A visit from a pal is always a boost. Have a good day x”

Someone else commented: “Two comedy treasures together!” while a Two Doors Down fan penned: “Oh my word, it’s Christine! Two comedy queens together.”
