The National Lottery has confirmed someone has claimed the £7,422,407 jackpot prize won by a single ticket-holder in the draw this weekend.

The winnings are enough to get you a 50ft yacht, fill your house with thousand-pound plants, or buy a modest flat in London.

The winning Lotto numbers were 02, 11, 13, 17, 39, 41, and the bonus number was 37. Draw machine Merlin and set of balls 9 were used.

This multi-million pound Lotto jackpot win comes during an exciting month for Lotto players – but still must be validated first.

The validation includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions are adhered to and the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.

Once validated, the lucky winner will then be paid at an appointment with one of Allwyn’s Winners’ Advisers. Allwyn is the operator of the National Lottery.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: ‘We’re delighted that this life-changing Lotto jackpot prize has now been claimed. Winning £7.4M is absolutely incredible and means this lucky ticket-holder can soon start to turn a lot of their dreams into reality!

‘Our focus is now on supporting the ticket-holder through the process so they can start enjoying their win as soon as possible.’

While someone will undoubtedly be popping the champagne after a lottery windfall this week, the odds of winning are vanishingly low.

As we looked into previously, you’re almost five times more likely to be struck by lightning, 64 times more likely to be crushed by a meteorite, and 4,000 times more likely to win an Oscar.

But someone beat the odds, and now they’d just better avoid standing underneath any trees in a thunderstorm.

Meanwhile, two players both won a £1 million prize after matching five out of six numbers and the bonus ball.
