Ronaldo came to Paisley and two bold Buddies almost got his GOAT by asking him to autograph ANOTHER Real Madrid legend’s jersey.

Saints superfan Craig Ferguson and pal Cameron Eliot were front of the queue at the SMiSA stadium gates when the Portuguese icon rolled up for a training session.

They beat hundreds of screaming fans to nab an audience with the superstar striker who competes with Argentina legend Messi for the title of Greatest Of All Time.

And the encounter was an amazing experience even though Ronaldo was asked to sign his Real No.7 predecessor Raul’s jersey .. but thankfully didn’t notice.

And Craig couldn’t hear what Ronaldo was saying to him due to the noise of fellow fans screaming!

Craig, who made headlines all summer by walking thousands of miles for charity to cheer on Scotland at Euro 2024, didn’t miss the chance to meet his hero.

And he told the Paisley Daily Express : “I’m absolutely buzzing. It was a few long hours of waiting, but we got there.”

Craig, like many others, had heard a rumour that the Portugal team would be training at St Mirren’s SMiSA Stadium and so headed down to see if there was any truth to that.

He said: “When I first got there, there was quite a nice atmosphere.

“I was there with one of my pals Cammy, who’s also a big Ronaldo fan.

“We were standing there chatting to everybody else around and there were just around 15 people to begin with, but then an hour or two before he arrived, people started packing in.

“Luckily we were right at the front and managed to grab some good real estate.

“It’s actually an early 2000’s kit, so pre-Ronaldo signing for Madrid. It has number seven, but it’s Raul on the back. He didn’t seem to notice though, so that’s probably a good thing.

“It didn’t seem to me that he was saying much, but if he was, it was drowned out by the deafening screams of everyone around us.

“People were saying in my video that he didn’t look happy, but come on, cut him some slack, he’s come over and he’s signing shirts, he does it every day, wherever he goes, I’m just buzzing that he came over at all.

“He’s one of my biggest idols, I’ve looked up to him all through my years of growing up.

“I’ve always been somebody who loved watching Real Madrid, and watching Ronaldo play for them.

“I’ve been to a few Madrid games, and I’ve seen Ronaldo play a handful of times, but to see him that close and get a signature it felt so weird, he almost looked fake in person.”

Ronaldo has a whole slew of records that would need another page to list, but perhaps chief among them is his record as being the player to have scored the most goals in a professional career ever.

He has scored more than 900 goals across his 22-year career. To put that in perspective, it’s worth considering that only 25 players ever managed to score more than 500 in their career.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was the only other Portuguese star to came over to say hello to the crowd.

Ronaldo, Fernandes, and co took on Steve Clarke’s heavily depleted Scotland side at Hampden on Tuesday night.
