Kamala Harris’ campaign raised more than $600 million from big donors in the third quarter, outstripping Trump by about a 2-1 margin.

The Harris Victory Fund and Harris Action Fund raised $652 million between July and September, according to new filings, almost double the $340 million that Trump’s equivalent, Trump 47 Committee and Trump National Committee, raised in the same period.

Harris has overall raised more than $1 billion since launching her campaign on July 21 when President Biden dropped his reelection bid and handed the Democratic baton to her.

The final official filings before Election Day helps explain why the Democratic campaign has more money to burn in the home stretch of the White House race, despite high-profile donations to Trump by Tesla mogul Elon Musk and other right-wing billionaires.

Donors who gave the legal maximum of nearly $1 million to Harris’ fundraising groups included Hollywood agent Ari Emanuel and philanthropists Melinda French Gates and Laurene Powell Jobs.

Harris and the Democrats entered the crucial month of October with $112 million in cash on hand, while Trump and the Republicans entered this month with $77 million on hand, according to the documents.

Musk and other right wing donors are also plowing big bucks into their own supposedly independent super PACs that aim to boost Trump and Republicans in Congress.

But most analysts believe the official campaign groups are better suited to mount get out the vote efforts, which are typically aimed at partisan supporters in the final days leading up to Election Day.
