Rylan Clark has alarmed his fans after sharing a chilling photo captioned with a “goodbye” message, telling followers “this is how it ends”.

The TV star, 35, posted a bathroom selfie that pictures him gazing into a fogged up mirror with a towel around his waist, as though recently out of the shower. Beneath it, Rylan wrote: “I think this is how it ends. Bye x”.

The media personality followed the cryptic post with an additional Instagram story, which featured the same picture along with the text: “Send help”.

Fans were quick to share their concern about the calls for help, with one begging: “Rylan could you please let us know that your ok as you’ve got a lot of people worried lots of love is coming your way xx”.

Another added: “Erm what do you mean this is how it ends?!” whilst a third warned: “Suggest you don’t use posts like that. It’s triggering for a lot of us.”

As alarm mounted in response to the posts, Rylan recaptioned his original post with the clarification: “THAT IS NOT MY HANDPRINT [crying laughing emoji].” the Express reported.

Fans were quick to see the funny side of the alarming posts, with friend and Gogglebox Daniel Lustig commenting: “He’s behind you.” Another user added: “Maybe it’s just me….but I can see a figure outside the door”, while one joked: “Sleep with one eye open tonight”.

Rylan reassured his followers further by taking to the comment section beneath his post, telling one concerned fan: “I’m fine apart from the [ghost emoji].”

Rylan’s fresh drama comes shortly after he sparked online controversy by venting his road-rage on X. In a post that has since been deleted, Rylan complained that a pedestrian who was using a zebra crossing failed to thank him for stopping the car.

The controversial post stated: “I know it’s the law and that pedestrians have right of way at zebra crossings… BUT SAY THANK YOU OR POP UR HAND UP. Rude pr**ks… (Stuck in traffic and annoyed).” Users responded in outrage, with some even suggesting that the post was “jeopardising his National Treasure status”.

Although the post swiftly vanished, Rylan has insisted that he did not delete it and instead claimed to enjoy reading the debate he had provoked. When the star finally returned to X, he explained that he was baffled to learn that the deletion of the original post had sparked even more uproar than its contents.

He wrote: “Dunno how I deleted my tweet from earlier was looking at ur replies. Read like this ‘I know it’s the law and that pedestrians have right of way at zebra crossings… BUT SAY THANK YOU OR POP UR HAND UP. Rude pr**ks… (Stuck in traffic and annoyed). Didn’t realise would spark some massive debate. This hasn’t got anything to do with the law, who should do what, I’ve just been brought up to say thanks when a car slows down at a zebra crossing. Also, thanking a bus driver when you get off a bus. Things like that.”

He added: “When I was on Room101 this is something I put in as my subject. As a pedestrian, I’d always thank a driver stopping so I can cross. Whether it’s my right of way or not. For people tweeting ‘would you as a driver thank a pedestrian for walking along the pavement and not in the road?!?’ – bit different babe.” He then joked: “‘Are you annoyed they didn’t recognise you’- completely heartbroken. Just manners. Enjoy your day. Look both ways.”
