Slobodan Rubezic knows this weekend’s top of the table clash with Celtic will be the acid test for 100% Aberdeen but he has insisted “nothing is impossible”.

The Dons sit proudly joint top of the table after both opened up with seven, straight Premiership wins. Aberdeen have won all 13 games in all competitions since boss Thelin arrived in the summer. Rubezic knows this weekend’s visit to the champions will be their toughest challenge to date. Rubezic said: “We will see soon because after the international break we are visiting Celtic. It will be a great opportunity to measure ourselves and after 90 minutes of fighting, we will see what we are made of. We will try to do in that match from the start what we have been doing in the last period, which is why we share the first place with the club from Glasgow.

“You can play against Celtic, but you have to be disciplined to the highest limit. They must not be allowed any space, but neither should we be casual because they will punish us immediately, which comes from their experience in the Champions League. We are aware that they have been dominant for the last ten years, but we know that nothing is impossible.”

Aberdeen will head to the east end of Glasgow full of confidence knowing they are the last team across Europe’s major leagues to have won all their games. The 24-year-old proudly admitted: “It seems incredible that we are the only undefeated ones on the continent.

“It means a lot that we are so successful because last season we finished in seventh place. This club deserves to fight for Europe every season. Now everyone looks at us with respect because in addition to seven triumphs in the championship, we also have six in the cup.”

Rubezic comes back from international duty having been part of the Montenegro squad that lost away to Turkey and Wolves. He comes back to the feel-good factor at Aberdeen and he knows that is down to the magic that Thelin has sprinkled.

Rubezic, speaking to Sports Zurnal, claimed: “Credit also goes to the excellent coach Thelin, he created a team spirit. Now he is carrying a euphoria that has been incredible in recent weeks. Everything has come together!

“Aberdeen hired him to make us similar or the same. The Swede pushes young players and likes to play attractive football. We are taking it match to match and there is a real connection with the fans, so that the last match with Hearts was sold out. “It was the first time in six years.”
