OPAL and Xcite Ageing Well hosted the celebration event of the 2024 Games in Strathbrock Partnership Centre last week.

This was the third year of OPAL and Xcite working in partnership to pull this together.

During Healthy Ageing Month in September, 28 teams took part in games across West Lothian from various community groups.

The teams enjoyed a variety of games including skittles, indoor kurling, a bean bag game and our new football shoot out which brought a lot of fun, laughter and lots of friendly competition!

Funding for the event was kindly provided by Lynn Smith from Smile – Adventure with Dementia and the Des Ryan Fund, along with support from The Larder who provided the scones and Sky volunteers who were a great help on the day of the event.

The event was a great success bringing together all the teams who took part from across West Lothian.

The attendees enjoyed a seated exercise to start followed by the awards ceremony and entertainment from singer John Davidson who kept the dance floor full.

A spokesperson said: “Each year our aim is to encourage people to move more and stay active. We look forward to next year!”
