The clock is ticking for three people who have won lottery prizes but have not come forward to claim their money.

£2.35 million worth of lottery prizes remain unclaimed and if the deadline is not met they will be allocated to good causes.

A lucky player from Bromley won £1 million on August 31 after matching five main numbers plus the bonus ball in the Lotto draw.

The person hasn’t claimed the prize and has until February 27 to claim it.

Somebody in nearby Lambeth won £1 million on the EuroMillions on September 3 and has until March 2 to claim the prize.

Another person in Birmingham who matched five numbers on the Lotto HotPicks on September 18 has until March 17 to claim their £350,000 prize.

If a claim is not received within 180 days (around six months) of the draw date, the prize and any interest benefits National Lottery projects across the UK.

Winners are granted a further seven days to claim the money in person if they contact Allwyn UK before the 180-day claim period expires.

For those who win more than £50,000 they have to claim the money in person by completing a form.

They also have to bring along the winning ticket, alongside proof of age and identity.

People often forget to check their tickets or lose them meaning they never claim their prize money.

This happened on April 16 when somebody who won on the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker ticket in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, did not claim their prize.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: ‘Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

‘However, the money will now add to the £30m raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects.’

Across the pond in the US, a man was thrilled to find out he’d won a major lottery prize – before realising he was only one digit away from an even bigger jackpot.

Carlos Gutirrez bought a lottery ticket while waiting for his lunch at Lee’s Sandwiches in Falls Church, Virginia, on October 9, 2023.

He found out he’d won a life changing $1 million (£827,430) – but was shocked to realise he could have pocketed the entire $1.55 billion (£1.28 billion) jackpot if he hadn’t changed the Powerball number at the last minute.
