BSU’s College of Business holds first annual fundraising event

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -A fundraising event was held this evening to raise money for Bluefield State University’s W. Paul Cole, Jr. College of Business.

The community showed up in numbers to the first annual Big Blue Biz Bash at the Club on the Green in Bluefield to show their support and listen to students share the opportunities they experienced while attending the school.

Funds raised will go towards “expanding scholarship opportunities, invest un research and technology, including an immersive business simulation suite, which mimic real-life economic conditions and customer behavior.”

Dr. Darrin Martin, Interim President of Bluefield State University says the college’s connection with the community important to the successes to the institution.

“We are part of the community, and we understand our value and being able to provide the next leaders in the community,” said Martin. “It’s important for us to share and highlight our successes, but to also ask the community how we can better serve them.”

The college was named after community leader W. Paul Cole, Jr., who served as Bluefield’s longest serving mayor.
