Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend in Central Texas this weekend.

AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From Formula 1 to festive fun, there’s no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix

F1 weekend is here! From Friday through Sunday, racing fans will flood into Circuit of the Americans for the Formula 1 Pirelli United States Grand Prix. Parking lots open early each morning, with activities and live music planned throughout each day. Fans also have the opportunity to see performances from Sting and Eminem at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Some types of tickets are still available.

When: Friday through Sunday. Parking lots open at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., respectively.

Where: Circuit of the Americas, located at 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. in Del Valle

Texas Football vs. Georgia

Saturday is one of the most anticipated games of the 2024 college football season as the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns take on the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Texas is undefeated, Georgia has one loss and both teams are serious contenders for the College Football Playoff.

Some tickets are still available online, but prices are steep – all were over $400 on Ticketmaster as of Thursday afternoon. Never fear: there should be plenty of watch parties around town, and you can always catch the game at home, right here on KVUE.

When: Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Darrel K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, located at 2139 San Jacinto Blvd.

Spooky Halloween festivities

Halloween is only a couple of weeks away, and the spooky activities are in full swing across Central Texas!

On Sunday, you can take your pick of a number of festive family-friendly fun options, including “Halloween at Dreamland” in Dripping Springs, a Halloween Children’s Concert at the Long Center for the Performing Arts and “Barktoberfest: A Costume Contest for Dogs” at Radio/East.” There’s also some fun for grown-ups, with the “Real Ghosts: A Halloween Adventure” event scheduled at the Scottish Rite Theater.

You can also always just visit one of the many pumpkin patches in our area!

Meanwhile, if you’re looking to watch a creepy classic this weekend, there are plenty of options there as well. The Paramount Theatre has its “Panic at the Paramount” programming, including a series of oddball double-features and a screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” And at various Alamo Drafthouse locations throughout the weekend, there will be Master Pancake presentations of “Christine” and “Child’s Play” (1988), a “Ghostbusters” Movie Party and screenings of all sorts of spooky films, ranging from “A Nightmare on Elm Street” to “Dracula: Prince of Darkness” and even “Casper.”
