Tahj Miles has hinted at the possibility of a dramatic comeback to the hit TV series Death In Paradise.

The actor, now starring in Mr Loverman, made his mark on the popular BBC detective drama in its tenth instalment playing Marlon Pryce, a small-time criminal taken under the wing of the police team through a rehabilitation initiative. Tahj’s role saw an exit from the idyllic Saint Marie in the latest season as he set off to Jamaica, supporting his younger sibling who had secured a scholarship there.

The series has seen several actors reprise their roles after bidding farewell, with Camille Bordey and Florence Cassell being notable examples. Tahj has tantalisingly suggested that he too could step back into the Caribbean sunshine one day, but only if the storyline calls for it and resonates with the audience.

Discussing a potential return with Radio Times, Tahj said: “I never say no to anything. My character didn’t die, so the door’s always open. But it just has to make sense. It all has to make sense. So just know that on my end, it made sense to me.

“And if you don’t see me on the show for the next two, three years, just know that it doesn’t make sense in that moment in time, for whatever reason, whether it’s just what I’m doing personally in my life, the direction they’re going in on the show, the direction they want to bring the character back into. If I’m back, it’s because it makes sense.”

Tahj stressed that his possible return would depend entirely on the alignment with the series’ narrative arcs, adding: “I don’t like doing things that don’t make sense. That’s when we get into a whole bunch of problems. But never say never. The door’s open. So we’ll see.”

Another cast member has clearly stated her days on the show are over, reflecting on positive experiences but expressing a desire for fresh beginnings. When fans probed Josephine Jobert – who brings Florence Cassell to life – during an Instagram Q&A about a potential return, she said: “Not really. I had a great time and I made the best out of it.

“I have amazing memories and met amazing people too. But it’s time to move on. I think I can safely say no. I’ve already left and come back many times and I’ve definitely done my time on the show.”

She added: “I’ve finally been able to say goodbye to Florence and I am very grateful to have been part of this project that has brought so many lovely things in my life. I am also happy to be able to move on and take part in new projects.”
