Convenient as they are, there are vulnerabilities in our modern keyless entry car keys. Their RFID signals set to operate your car’s locks can be picked up and cloned by thieves, meaning they can access and steal your vehicle without even needing to see your fob. If it’s in your pocket, that signal is ripe for the taking.

The best way to prevent this is with a Faraday pouch capable of blocking all electromagnetic signals, and Todoxi’s box and two-pouch solution for £21.99 is being snapped up by shoppers to keep their car fobs secure both at home and on the go. There’s also a smaller version available for £17.99.

Todoxi’s box is ideal for storing fobs at home, preventing someone from picking up their RFID signals from outside. It’s got the capacity to store up to 12 fobs at a time.

The pouches are small enough to fit comfortably in most pockets, with each one stitched with different coloured threads so you can keep track of which fob is where by sight alone. Finished with a carbon fibre-style outer shell, the pouches look the part too.

With 4.5 out of 5 stars from 3,796 Amazon ratings, this anti-theft solution comes highly recommended. “Does what it says on the tin,” said one happy customer. “Complete protection and signal blocking for wireless keys, preventing car unlocking even with the box pressed against the car door. Inoffensive to look at, easy to operate, spacious enough for a handful of keys. Excellent value.”

This five-star review vouched for the box and pouches’ signal-blocking capabilities, saying: “I had read about cars being stolen due to thieves amplifying the signal from the key fob and hacking it in some way. This product works a treat and completely blocks the signal. The box has plenty of space and is ideal for home use and the pouches are handy when travelling. The only inconvenience is when you have keyless entry you have to take the fob out of the pouch but for me that’s a minor inconvenience which is far outweighed by the extra security offered.”

Another, who bought the smaller version, added: “The box itself looks nice and works well. It is quite small but holds two key fobs (one with a front door key) as well as the two pouches. Again these are quite small but hold a key fob securely.” Some users have noted, however, that the box can be a tight fit and difficult to open at times. “To say that the lid is a bit tight is an understatement. You have to pick it up in both hands to prise it open,” said one three-star review.

One person noted that the box can be quite limited for space: “This was ok for what I wanted but be aware the box only just big enough for the 2 pouches with keys in. Definitely not the size if you want to put a phone in.”
