Eamonn Holmes’ past relationship with his estranged wife Ruth Langsford will likely influence his new romance with Katie Alexander, says a relationship expert.

After parting ways with Ruth, 64, earlier this year, the GB News presenter started seeing Katie, a mother-of-three and a BACP registered relationship counsellor.

At 42, the divorcee is 22 years younger than Eamonn, who is also a father-of-four and will be celebrating his 65th birthday this December. Jesper Jensen, a relationship expert at ExpertsEnAmour, suggests that moving on quickly after a break up can present its own set of challenges.

He commented: “When someone is emotionally ready, the timing may not matter as much as it seems.” However, he also highlighted the difficulties of rebound relationships, adding: “Eamonn’s experience with Ruth will shape his approach with his new partner.

“If he’s really reflected on his past relationship, this could be a good foundation, but only if both partners are willing to deal with any emotional baggage.”

Eamonn and Ruth announced their separation in May through a joint statement after 14 years of marriage. The statement read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

Despite their separation, both parties, who share a 22-year-old son, continue to wear their wedding rings. When asked by an Instagram user why she was still wearing her ring, Ruth simply replied: “Because I am still married.”

Currently, it seems that Ruth’s focus has been directed towards her work commitments and quality time with close ones, including her dog Maggie, the couple’s rescue pet since 2011. Sharing an update from a recent weekend drenched with rainfall, she posted: “Walking in the rain with the one I love!”

Apart from a brief mention on social media, the Loose Women presenter has kept quiet regarding their separation, while Eamonn Holmes expressed gratitude to his supporters live on GB News shortly after the news broke.

It is understood that Ruth has continued to reside in their family home in Surrey, meanwhile reports suggest he has moved into a modest apartment in London, conveniently near to the studios.

Relationship expert Jensen contended there might be hope for reconciliation, with past shared experiences possibly playing a beneficial role, as he noted: “Eamonn and Ruth have a history, and sometimes that can work in your favour if both have worked through past issues.”

He elaborated on the prerequisites for a rekindled romance by saying: “For any chance of getting back together, there needs to be a genuine desire to forgive, heal, and rebuild trust. Without that, the same old problems will resurface.”
