The family of a Scots man killed in a horror crash near Largs have paid tribute to a “much loved son, brother and grandson.”
Johnny Baxter, 22, from Kilburnie, died in the incident on the A760 near Largs on Tuesday, October 15, at around 5.10pm, involving a silver Honda Civic and a white Mercedes B class.
The passenger of Johny’s Honda, also a 22-year-old man, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The 63-year-old male driver of the Mercedes was transported to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock for assessment.
His family has asked for privacy and released the following statement: “Jonny will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was a much loved son, brother and grandson.”
The Record previously reported on his sister paying tribute to her brother.
She wrote: “Sleep tight my beautiful angel. There’s no way I could have prepared for your passing. Onto bigger and better things up there now.
“The boy I’ve looked up to my full life, the boy I told all my drama to, the boy I would go to when I just needed a hug, the boy I told my whole life story too, the boy who probably knows me better than I know myself.
“You’re the most caring and inspiring man I know. I love you forever my boy. Loved and missed by so many but never ever forgotten, forever 22.”
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family of Mr Baxter at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who can assist with our investigation and has not already spoken to officers to please get in touch.”
