TAZEWELL, Va. – The Tazewell County Career and Technical Center is once again offering free robotic certification courses for adults.
Three different groups or the classes will be held from October through March. The classes will teach those enrolled how to learn and excel in automation which is used in a variety of production plants that rely on robots for production.
In order to take the classes you must become OSHA 10 certified and the cost to complete the course can be reimbursed if you successfully complete the course. Ryan Lewis, the robotics instructor for the class says the cost for the certification is between $50 and $60.
He adds this is a small price to pay for a potentially well paying job.
“It‘s a fantastic industry to be in. I spent 30 years working in this field. Programming and installing these robots and working with automation and automated equipment. They’re very high paying jobs,” said Lewis. “The wages are going higher and higher every year.”
The classes are free thanks to a grant which makes this the third year the free classes have been offered according to Lewis. Free transport to the classes is also being offered by Four County Transit.

Cohort 11 – October 21st to December 17th (Monday – Thursday) 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM **No Class on November 1st, 4th, 5th, 27th, 28th, and 29th.
Cohort 12 – January 6th to February 27th (Monday – Thursday) 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM **No Class on January 20th.
Cohort 13 – March 10th to May 6th (Monday – Thursday) 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM **There will be No Class on April 18th, 21st, and 22nd.
