Outlander star Sophie Skelton has been labelled “unrecognisable” by some fans in a new social media video with her co-star Richard Rankin.

The iconic pairing is best known for portraying the show’s second-most adored couple, Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie.

Brianna, or Bree, is instantly recognisable from her signature fiery red curls, which she keeps throughout her travels across time.

However, now the cast of Outlander has wrapped up filming for its eighth and final season, Skelton has shed her on-screen persona and returned to her day-to-day look.

Much to many fans’ surprise, she’s now rocking straight brunette hair down to her shoulders and wore a sleeveless black top, a stark contrast to her usual style as Bree.

One fan replied “I didn’t recognize her”, adding a shocked emoji to illustrate their surprise.

Another viewer gushed: “Sophie looks absolutely gorgeous! Excited for this season!”

While another was confused seeing the duo without their Outlander get-up, adding: “I didnt recognize either of them. Wondering who’s on my feed.”

“OMG i didn’t recognize the Bree,” someone else said, while another posted: “Wow she looks so different.”

A final fan agreed: “She looks so different without red hair.” As Outlander is officially coming to an end soon, enthusiasts will have to get used to seeing Skelton without Bree’s most recognisable features.

In the caption for the clip, the official Outlander Instagram page teased: “Buckle up, there’s an epic ride to come for these two.”

Richard started the clip by replying to a fan comment: “So, you’re looking forward to your favourite Roger and Brianna storyline, huh?”

“Well, it’s about to get a bit better,” Sophie chimed in. And Richard added: “We can promise you that it delivers.

“The second half of season seven is a very exciting and thrilling ride and I think you’re going to be very pleased, very excited for everything that’s to come.”

Sophie then warned ominously: “It might not deliver Jemmy, but it will deliver a very good ride.”

At the end of season seven’s midseason finale, Roger heads back in time again with his ancestor William Buccleigh MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh) to recover his and Bree’s son, who had been kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton) in a ploy to uncover some lost treasure.

Could Sophie’s warning be an ominous preview of a tragic end for the MacKenzies? Fans will have to tune in next month to find out.

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
