A natural remedies expert has shared their favourite juice recipe for alleviating back pain – and people are rushing to try it.

In the viral TikTok video, @elixirsecrets said: “If you drink this natural remedy every morning on an empty stomach, you will make your back pain, headaches, joint pain and arthritis disappear.

“To start, take a pear and cut it into pieces. Pear is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. It helps reduce inflammation and reduce joint pain. Then cut a banana. Banana is rich in potassium, helps strengthen bones and reduce muscle cramps.”

He then recommends chopping some ginger and clementine and blending into the mix. While the former is an “excellent source of Vitamin C”, the latter has anti-inflammatory properties that work to relieve joint pain and improve mobility.

For a final flourish, squeeze in some lemon. Not only does this taste great, it also provides antioxidants. If you drink this pear smoothie every day, preferably before breakfast and on an empty stomach, it’s said to ease back pain.

The video has been liked more than 20,000 times since it was shared, and people seem keen to try it out. One commenter said: “Thank you so much for your help – really appreciate it.” Another added: “I will try.” A third also replied: “Wow, thank you so much. I need this.”

So does the viral hack actually work? According to Healthline, pears can work to promote gut health, and also have anti-inflammatory properties. The tasty fruit is also good to add to your diet if you’re trying to lose weight.

Ginger has been praised in studies for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. As well as this, one research paper found that highly concentrated doses of ginger extract helped to treat people with osteoarthritis of the knee.

How is drinking pear juice good for you?

Drinking pear juice can offer several health benefits due to its nutritional content and natural properties. Here are some reasons why pear juice might be considered good for you:

  1. Hydration: Pear juice is mostly water, which contributes to maintaining hydration, especially during warmer months or after physical activities.

  2. Rich in Vitamins: Pear juice contains various vitamins such as vitamin C and vitamin K. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that supports the immune system, helps in the absorption of iron, and promotes healthy skin. Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and bone health.

  3. Dietary Fibre: While juicing can remove some fibre, pear juice retains some soluble fibre, which can help with digestion and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.

  4. Antioxidants: Pears are rich in antioxidants like flavonoids, which help combat free radicals in the body, reducing oxidative stress and potentially lowering the risk of chronic diseases.

  5. Low in Calories: Compared to many sugary beverages, pear juice is relatively low in calories, making it a healthier alternative for those watching their calorie intake.

  6. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Pears contain anti-inflammatory compounds that may help reduce inflammation, which is linked to various chronic conditions.

  7. Natural Sugars: Pear juice provides natural sugars for a quick energy boost without the added sugars found in many sodas and energy drinks.

  8. Potassium Content: Pear juice is a good source of potassium, a mineral that is essential for heart health, muscle function, and maintaining normal blood pressure levels.

Remember, while pear juice can be beneficial, it’s important to consume it in moderation due to its natural sugar content. Whole pears are also a great option as they provide more fibre and help with satiety. Additionally, it’s always a good idea to choose fresh or 100% pure pear juice to avoid additives and extra sugars.
