Back-to-back home wins are the aim for Stirling Albion as they prepare to kick off League Two’s second quarter of games with the visit of managerless Clyde tomorrow.
The Binos are in the middle of an October which won’t see them travel away from Forthbank, with the Forfar win a fortnight ago followed by Saturday’s dust-up with the Bully Wee and a Scottish Cup clash with Bo’ness Athletic.
Albion currently sit in fourth after a promising start to their league season – and enjoyed a tune-up on Tuesday night when they took on a Rangers B side in a friendly at Murray Park.
The match ended 2-2, with Harry Wright and Cammy McKinley on target for a Binos outfit able to get some minutes into some first-team names, including Lewis Milne and Callum Crane.
They were on track to take the spoils on the dank night at Auchenhowie, before Alex Lowry popped up with an excellent strike in the closing minutes for the Rangers outfit.
The first meeting between Stirling and Clyde this season saw Albion produce a composed away performance to claim a 2-0 win at New Douglas Park, courtesy of a Craig Howie own goal and a late McKinley second.
That match saw Alan Maybury’s side show some dig in the face of pressure from the home side and was indicative of the Binos’ generally strong form on the road this season, with only one away league defeat so far.
Meanwhile, it has been a shambolic start for Saturday’s visitors, who were among the well-fancied sides at the start of the league season.
Veteran boss Ian McCall had been under pressure after notching up only one win in their opening nine – and Edinburgh City’s win over Spartans dropped the Bully Wee to the bottom of the table, with McCall leaving his position.
Coaches Neil Scally and Mark Kerr are likely to be in the dugout for Saturday’s match, with Stirling hopeful there will still be a hangover from the upheaval this weekend as they aim to cut the gap to the sides in front of them.
