AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) is investigating a homicide Thursday evening at an apartment complex on Wells Branch Parkway.

The TCSO said at 6:16 p.m. Oct. 17, deputies responded to a call to assist EMS after 911 received a report that someone had been shot at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Wells Branch Parkway. 

Deputies found the victim, a man in his 20s, in the breezeway of an apartment building. CPR was administered and the man was resuscitated. He was then taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Multiple witnesses stayed on scene and are cooperating with the TCSO’s investigation. The agency said one person of interest has been detained.

Officials said the people involved in this case know each other, and there is no threat to the public. The identity of the victim will be released after next of kin has been notified.
