A trend-setting Muirhead boutique is holding two discount-packed events as part of its seventh anniversary.

Independent business Nelly McCabe on the village’s Cumbernauld Road has went from strength to strength since its opening, including displaying items at TV star Gok Wan’s Glasgow catwalk show.

This is despite some struggles endured throughout the COVID pandemic when most of people’s shopping habits shifted online.

But owner and fabulous fashionista Rosie Martin is continuing to grow the business – and determined to involve its customers in its seven-year milestone.

Rosie said: “We are currently closed on Sundays and Mondays due to lower footfall on those days but we have scheduled two sold out events on November 3 and December 1, where we are hosting an afternoon of shopping with special discounts, including an afternoon tea, and will be joined by psychic medium Jim Clark.

“These events will assist immensely with attracting new customers and increasing our sales.”

Rosie named her business after her late grandmother and previously caught the eye of Gok Wan after he saw her boutique’s designs on social media.

Nelly McCabe stocks “unique boutique brands of ladieswear and accessories from across Europe, including Spain, Italy, France, Denmark”, but Rosie is keen to maintain its Scottish roots.

Rosie added: “We recently celebrated our seventh year in business which has had its struggles due to COVID and all shopping shifting to online.

“I joined the government’s Help to Grow course with Strathclyde Business School in 2021 and the support was, and continues to be, phenomenal, with ideas on ways to pivot the business and move with the times.

“As part of my business plan, last year we introduced a coffee shop to our boutique offering our customers a selection of hot and cold drinks and sweet treats – and we will soon be launching afternoon teas.

“This increases dwell time in-store and provides a fabulous space for our customers to relax before or after shopping.

“We are also hosting a menopause cafe in the evening, creating a space for women to discuss and support each other through their menopause journey.”
