King Charles has a genius method of ensuring he quickly adapts to any location worldwide, with news that he and other senior royals are gearing up for an extensive schedule of overseas tours in the next two years. The monarch is known to travel with his personal ‘breakfast box’, which includes organic items personally selected by him.
His commitment to environmental protection and organic farming, long championed during his time as Prince of Wales, is evident in his travel habits, according to former members of royal staff, OK! reports.
Before the late Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022, royal chef Graham Newbould shared: “Charles has a healthier option. He’d have homemade bread, a bowl of fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices.”
He added: “Wherever Charles goes in the world, the breakfast box goes with him. He has six different types of honey, some special mueslis, his dried fruit and anything that’s a bit special that he is a bit fussy about.”
Another insight into his breakfast preferences was provided by ex-royal chef Darren McGrady, who noted that King Charles ensures the royal pantry is always filled with “his own produce”. Darren revealed: “The instruction was to put two plums and a little juice into the bowl and send it into him for breakfast.
“I’d send in two plums and he would take one so it would come back out after breakfast and I’d put the other plum back into the jar and save it. One morning I thought, ‘OK, he only eats one for breakfast,’ so I only put one plum into the bowl and sent it out into the dining room.
“The attending [waiter] came through and said, ‘Can His Royal Highness have two please?’ So I had to keep sending two in every morning.”
In Tina Brown’s book, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – the Truth and the Turmoil, further demands are exposed, including Charles allegedly sending a van with his belongings to his friends’ country houses a day before his visit.
This includes his orthopaedic bed, toilet seat, and Kleenex Velvet toilet paper, as well as his own landscapes of the Scottish Highlands to decorate his room.
