The 20-year-old was killed after the car he was a back sear passenger in crashed on the M61.

David Eubank, 20, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, died after the Citroen C1 he was a passenger smashed with a Mercedes on Tuesday.

The drivers of both vehicles and a second passenger in the Citroen suffered serious injuries.

Now David’s family have paid tribute to ‘the fine young man he had become,’ the MEN reports.

The family said in a tribute issued via the police: ‘David was beautiful inside and out – we are so proud of the fine young man he had become.

‘He was funny, kind, caring and considerate at home, work and with his friends.

‘David was so much loved by all who knew him.

‘He has left a massive hole in our hearts – we are devastated by his loss.’

The crash happened near Rivington Services outside Bolton at about 11.38pm.

The Citroen travelling southbound had first collided with a barrier before crashing with a Mercedes on the same carriageway.

The M61 was shut for hours into Wednesday as officers carried out an investigation at the scene.

An appeal is ongoing for any dashcam footage.

Just hours later, a man in his 20s was killed in a crash on the M20 in Kent – the seventh fatality on England’s roads in less than 24 hours after a crash involving a car travelling the wrong way killed two children and three adults on the M6.
