DALLAS, Texas — Apolinar Moreno has always provided for his family. The father of six, and his wife, spent the last 10 years at a mobile home on Lombardy Lane.

Last Saturday morning, Dallas Fire-Rescue said crews responded to a report of a fire at a mobile home in the 2600 block of that street shortly before 6:30 a.m.

They said they found fire coming from the back of a mobile home and two vehicles.

The Moreno’s home was torched by the flames and the family lost everything.

“I feel bad. I lived here for 10 years man,” said Apolinar.

His son Jonathan said everyone was asleep when the fire first started. “I heard the windows popping, like boom, boom, boom. I was shocked I couldn’t move,” he said.

Johnathan said four of his other siblings were able to get out of the home during the fire, except for two-year-old Camila.

Jonathan said he rushed back in to save her.

“I grabbed her and picked her up and got out,” Johnathan said. “I knew I couldn’t forgive myself if I got out and she didn’t get out. I couldn’t live like that.”

Nina Castro is the First Vice President of the Thomas Jefferson Alumni Association. Jonathan is a junior at the high school. “This is nothing short of an absolute miracle,” said Castro.

Castro said they learned about what happened to his family through counselors and jumped in to help.

“We’ve been helping since Tuesday with blankets and food, but to be honest with you — this family needs a lot of help,” said Castro.

She’s calling on others to help pitch in. Castro said the association is accepting donations and everything is going straight to the Moreno family. You can donate by clicking here

Friends and family have also created a GoFundMe to help the Morenos, you can find that link here.

Apolinar said he is trying to keep his head up but is beyond grateful for his son jumping into action.

“That’s my hero,” Apolinar said.
