Yvette Fielding, known for her role in Most Haunted, is the UK’s foremost expert in ghostly encounters and has become quite the authority on identifying the presence of spirits. Hosting the popular programme has certainly expanded her knowledge on the paranormal, leading her to recognise several indications that might suggest a house is subject to a ghostly inhabitant.
Mysterious sounds or belongings being displaced during the night are classic clues. Surprisingly, according to new findings, about 26% of British people believe or have believed their abode to be haunted.
However, during her collaboration with video doorbell firm Ring to find the nations most haunted home, Fielding divulged to the Mirror one peculiar and often-missed indication – inexplicable, isolated pools of water. Yvette shared how sometimes you may come across puddles indoors without any apparent source.
“Sometimes, you’ll walk into a room and find water just sitting there, in the middle of the floor,” she noted. “It’s not a leak from the ceiling, it’s not a spill – there’s no clear reason for it. The water just appears, and it can happen in the most random spots.”
In short, before contacting a plumber for mysterious moisture, consider it might signal an ethereal visitor. Fielding has exposed other potential evidences of a spectral lodger, such as phantom footsteps, spontaneous activity in electronics, puzzling phone calls, taps and unexplained vocal phenomena, reports the Mirror.
Yvette offers up a seemingly simple solution for dealing with uninvited spectral guests, suggesting that a direct request can often persuade them to depart. “Nine out of ten times, if you show respect, they will leave,” she claims.
“The best approach is to talk out loud. Say something like, ‘Please don’t scare me or my family. You’re frightening us, and I don’t like it. If it continues, I’ll have to ask for help to ask you to leave. Please respect our family.'”.
During her time on the popular paranormal TV show Most Haunted, which captivated viewers from 2002 to 2019, Yvette encountered numerous supernatural events from being locked in rooms by unseen forces to suffering tangible attacks and even experiencing what she believed was a temporary possession. Despite these hair-raising occurrences, she insists not all encounters were unsettling.
“I have had some wonderful and thought provoking experiences, and messages from beyond the grave which tells us what life after death is like,” she reflects.
Yvette openly expresses her lack of fear towards the end of life, drawing comfort from anticipated reunions in the hereafter. “I’m not afraid of dying,” she states.
“I can’t wait to reunite with my dad and other family members. We need to stop fearing death – it’s a transition to a beautiful place where we’ll be with our loved ones again.”
