BLUEWELL, W. Va. -On Saturday, King’s Tire Service in Bluewell debuted a new event for car enthusiasts and the whole family. However, the purpose here goes beyond fall fun, with a larger goal of helping kids in our across the region.

The inaugural “Cruise in and Fall Festival” brought classic cars to Bluewell, while bringing in the toys for our local Toys for Tots group.

Despite this being the first time this event was held, the manager of the Bluewell King’s Tire Service, Trena Shinault, says the turnout was even better than she expected, with fifty-five cars taking part, all donating to help ensure local kids have something to open on Christmas morning.

Michelle McPeak, a volunteer with Toys for Tots who set up here, says they’ve just gotten started on their annual toy drive, so there’s still a big need for toys. Those we spoke to say this new event is doing an important service to the community, helping keep the spirit of Christmas alive in the hearts of kids who otherwise might be the only one they know without a present under the tree.

“I think it’s fantastic just to be out here to have the opportunity to set up, to generate… let people know there is a need and then you know facilitate a location to meet those needs. I think it’s great,” says McPeak.

“No child should be forgotten. That’s a big thing for us, especially one that still believes. You don’t want a kid to wake up on Christmas morning and feel like they’ve been forgotten,” says Shinault.

Shinault says the first event was a success and something they plan to make an annual fall tradition for Bluewell.

McPeak says if you missed this event, there is still an opportunity to donate to their important cause. You can look for the Toys for Toys boxes set up across the area or find more information about donating on the Princeton Toys for Tots website.
