Texas fell to Georgia on Saturday night. The Horns were one of two top 10 teams that lost.

HOUSTON — The new Associated Press Top 25 poll is out and as expected, Texas dropped from the No. 1 spot after the Horns’ home loss to Georgia.

The top spot now belongs to Oregon after the unbeaten Ducks shut out Purdue on Friday. Georgia moved up from No. 5 to No. 2. 

Penn State comes in at No. 3 in the new poll, followed by Ohio State at No. 4 and then Texas at No. 5.

Unbeaten Miami remains at No. 6, followed by Tennessee at No. 7, LSU at No. 8, Clemson at No. 9 and Iowa State at No. 10.

Alabama, which had been at No. 7, fell to No. 15 in the new poll after losing to Tennessee. Texas A&M stayed at No. 14 after Saturday’s 10-point win over Mississippi State.

SMU dropped a spot to NO. 22, despite winning on Saturday.

Vanderbilt, Texas’ next opponent, is No. 25.

When do the College Football Playoff rankings come out?

While the AP poll is the rankings during much of the season, it’s the CFP rankings will determine which teams play for a national championship this season. The first ranking of the CFP comes out on Nov. 5.  The College Football Playoff came into existence in 2014, but until this season, had only included the top four teams. This year, the CFP will expand to 12 teams. Here’s how it will work.
