The Rangers board has come under fire again as fed up fans made their feelings clear in Kilmarnock.

Philippe Clement is marking a year in the Gers dugout, but his team struggled during a sluggish first half in Ayrshire with fans having little to get excited about. And they’ve demanded better from the Ibrox decision makers with a pointed banner displayed at half-time from ultras group the Union Bears. It read: “The mismanagement of Rangers must stop and stop now.”

Punters are peeved that a year on from the latest change in the dugout, they appear no closer to challenging Celtic and a number of high profile club roles sit vacant. Rangers still haven’t appointed a chief executive to replace James Bisgrove, who left for Saudi Arabia earlier this year. Director of football operations Creag Robertson is the latest to signal his departure, while former chairman John Bennett stepped down due to health reasons.

Interim replacement John Gilligan earlier this week hit back at suggestions of a lack of leadership at the club, insisting he and George Letham have things under control. “I can confirm Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson will leave in the coming weeks to pursue new opportunities,” he said. “We must thank Creag for his contribution in several roles since he joined the club in 2016 and we wish him well in his future endeavours.

“With Creag moving on, I have seen some reports of the club being without leadership. I can assure you that is not the case with George Letham and myself, who have deep knowledge of business and our great club, working tirelessly alongside our executive management team to continue to drive the club forward. Nils Koppen, our Director of Football Recruitment, highlighted in an interview last week that planning for the January transfer window is well underway.”
