John Lundstram has branded Robby McCrorie a MUPPET after celebrating victory over his old club online.

The Kilmarnock keeper was between the sticks as Derek McInnes’ men dumped Rangers 1-0 at Rugby Park thanks to Marley Watkins bundling beyond Jack Butland late on. The former Ibrox stopper made the move to Ayrshire in the summer after a lack of match minutes at Rangers. Butland remains the undisputed No1 with Liam Kelly his new deputy.

Following the win, McCrorie took to Instagram to upload some action shots including the Kilmarnock goal celebrations and him denying John Souttar at close range. He wrote alongside the images: “Brilliant team performance!” with a blue love heart emoji. But his update didn’t go down to well with his former Rangers colleague.

Lundstram wrote in the comments section: “Couldn’t wait to get this up could you ye muppet.” McCrorie responded to his post and wrote: “FS Lunny laaa.”

Speaking after the defeat that leaves his side trailing both Celtic and Aberdeen by six points after failure to close the gap after the top two played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon, Philippe Clement said: “You need in these games that kind of magic to open up the defence. They work really hard, we know that and all respect to Kilmarnock for that. That’s why it’s a difficult place to play.

“Also on the surface, you need to be even more precise than on a grass pitch. All these things, you know before you come here so you need to take these decisive moments. What we didn’t take also were the chances we had, so it’s all on us that we were not good enough to win this game.

“It’s a frustration of today because I don’t think this is the phase that the team has shown in the last couple of weeks. It’s a different type of game also, but we have to adapt better.”
