With November just around the corner, Bonfire Night and Fireworks Night are practically upon us.

Also known as Guy Fawkes Night, this one-of-a-kind holiday sees Scots all over the country watch as fabulous firework displays light up the night sky. The giant bonfires can also help stave off the early-November cold.

All over Scotland, there are dozens of Bonfire and Fireworks Night events taking place. From the Scottish Borders to the Orkney Islands, you are unlikely to be far from a display.

The Daily Record has rounded up some of the best events to head to if you want to make the most of the holiday. Just make sure you wrap up warm and leave your pets at home.

Aberdeen Fireworks Night 2024

On November 5, those in Aberdeen will be treated to a spectacular night of fireworks from the city’s North Pier. Kicking off at 7.30pm, for around 20 minutes the skies over the Granite City will be aglow in a rainbow of colour.

According to Aberdeen City Council, the top vantage points for the fireworks will be along the beach esplanade. Meanwhile, there will also be Park and Ride buses available that will take you directly to and from the beach.

Bridge of Allan Fireworks 2024

Over in Stirling, the Bridge of Allan Fireworks event will be taking place at the Strathallan Games Park. Beginning at 6pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will kick off soon after that.

Meanwhile, street food and refreshments will also be available to warm you up. All profits raised from the event will be used to fund initiatives in the community.

Fawkes Festival, Edinburgh

Set to be one of the biggest Firework Night spectaculars in Scotland this November, Fawkes Festival will be taking place at the Royal Highland Centre just out of the centre of Edinburgh. Promising to be an “explosion of colour, light, and sound”, the event will of course be centred around a show-stopping choreographed fireworks display.

However, there will also be plenty else on offer at Fawkes Festival — from street theatre to LED drummers. Acclaimed Scots bagpipe band The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are also set to put on an incredible performance.

Inverness Bonfire and Fireworks

Bught Park will be playing host to the yearly Inverness Bonfire and Fireworks event on November 5, with proceedings commencing at 5.30pm. Usually attracting thousands of people from Inverness and beyond, it is regarded as one of the largest fireworks displays in the Highlands.

According to The Highland Council, Horne’s Funfair will not be making an appearance this year as a result of ongoing works in the park. However, there will still be a variety of local vendors serving up tasty food.

Perth Round Table Bonfire Night

The popular Perth bonfire and firework display will be taking place on November 6 at the city’s Inch Park. If you arrive as early as 4pm, you will be able to spend some time checking out the funfair before the main event kicks off.

The bonfire is set to be lit at 7pm, with the fireworks following shortly after, so it is recommended you arrive around 6.30pm. The event is free to attend, though donations are welcome and will be used to support local causes.

Rotary Elgin Bonfire & Fireworks

Everything from a massive bonfire to brilliant fireworks will be at Cooper Park in Elgin this November 2. The free event will also feature funfair rides for younger visitors.

As if that wasn’t enough, side shows and hot food stalls will also be on offer. What more could you want?

Strathclyde Country Park Fireworks Display

If you are living anywhere in or near Glasgow, then Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell is the place to be this Fireworks Night. North and South Lanarkshire Councils will be putting on a marvellous free firework display starting from 7.30pm.

If you get there early, you can head to the Watersports Centre concourse for some food from Scarpetta Pasta, Base Pizza, Wing Theory, and much more. There will even be live entertainment courtesy of DJ Elliot Boyce.
