Air fryers have revolutionised cooking by allowing us to fry food with minimal or no oil.

This popular appliance is also an excellent option for those looking to reduce their carb intake, enabling you to skip heavy, starchy ingredients and easily prepare lighter, healthier treats.

One recipe that is both low fat and low carb, is Turkish bread. Using just three everyday ingredients, this recipe is causing quite a buzz amongst air fryer users, reports the Express.

The recipe was posted on the Best and Easy Air Fryer Recipes Facebook page.

The poster who shares the recipe said: “Brought a Turkish bread to my neighbour and she called five minutes later saying she needed the recipe. People seriously love this bread.””

The bread is tasty on its own or can be used as a base for pizza, wraps, and sandwiches.

To make the flatbreads, you’ll need self-raising flour, plain yogurt, and a teaspoon of olive oil. With just five minutes of prep time and only eight minutes of cooking, this low-carb bread alternative can be ready to enjoy in under 15 minutes.

Here’s how to make the Turkish flatbread at home.

Ingredients:

  • Two cups self-raising flour
  • One cup plain yoghurt (low-fat or full-fat yoghurt is fine)
  • One teaspoon olive oil (plus one tablespoon for brushing, optional)

Method:

  1. Add flour, yoghurt and one teaspoon olive oil to a large bowl.
  2. Work ingredients with your hands until dough forms. This will take about two-three minutes
  3. Place dough on a floured surface and split it into eight equal pieces.
  4. Roll each piece into a ball. Then roll them out with a rolling pin on your floured surface. Each piece should be rolled out until it is about four inches across.
  5. Brush a small amount of oil onto both sides.
  6. Preheat your air fryer for three minutes at 300 degrees.
  7. Place prepared flatbread into your air fryer basket.
  8. Air fryer for eight minutes, flipping it halfway through.
