POMEROY, Iowa (KEYC/Gray News) – A wanted man was arrested in Iowa Sunday in connection with the killing of his brother in Texas.

The man who said he’s been living with Kyle Coolack and for more than a week said Coolack admitted to being on the run for more than two years.

Kyle Coolack has been wanted for the killing of his brother since March 11, 2022, when Coolack’s brother, Brad Coolack, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds, Click2Houston said.

Crime Stoppers of Houston offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Coolack’s arrest.

On Sunday morning, Eddy Mason said Coolack admitted he was not the man he claimed to be when Mason picked him up along the road with a “Veteran needing work” sign.

Mason said for the past week, he had been providing work, housing and food to Coolack, and even had plans to watch football on Sunday.

“I got woke up this morning by a message saying I need to get my roommate out of the house. He was a murderer on the run. I then immediately got up and I confronted him. And that‘s when he looked at me and said, ’Yeah, I shot my brother.‘”

Mason said Coolack admitted his true identity, and Mason told him to leave.

He said he then contacted the sheriff’s department and said police picked up Coolack walking down the road and took him into custody.

Coolack is currently being held in the Carroll County Jail. Further details and extradition plans have not been released at this time.
