Leading business bosses from Lanarkshire will do ‘time’ to raise funds for cancer support charity Maggie’s.

The ‘Jail or Bail’ event, organised by Maggie’s Lanarkshire, will see participants ‘locked up’ for a range of ‘crimes’ including ‘subjecting peers to unsolicited singing and guitar performances’ and ‘failure to declare wins at recent golf events’, until they have raised enough money to be released.

The fundraising ‘inmates’ will be ‘locked up’ at HFD Group offices at Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, where they will be placed ‘behind bars’, have mug shots taken and face a judge to have their ‘bail’ set.

Maggie’s Lanarkshire Centre Fundraising Manager, Val Smith, said: “We are so grateful to everyone that has signed up for Jail or Bail to raise vital funds to help us support people living with cancer.

“The majority of our funding comes from voluntary donations, so we are always looking for new, innovative and, of course, fun ways of engaging with companies who are looking to give back.

“Jail or Bail has captured the business community’s imagination and will help us ensure people living with cancer, as well as family and friends, will have the support they need at what is possibly the hardest time of their lives.”

The participants will be David Equi, CEO of Equi’s Ice Cream; Dawn Oliver, Finance Control & Office Manager at BPS Group; Claire Bryce, Director at Callan Bid Services and Barbara McKnight.

HFD Group, Scotland’s leading commercial property company; pioneers in sustainable development, technology, and renewables, have very kindly provided facilities and catering for the day free-of-charge.

The Jail or Bail event will take place on Friday, October 25, from 9am, with segments of the proceedings live streamed on the Maggie’s Lanarkshire Facebook page so friends, colleagues, and everyone around the Lanarkshire area can watch live and help raise vital funds.

People can also support Maggie’s while helping to free the ‘inmates’ by visiting the Jail or Bail JustGiving Page when it goes live on the day. A link will be available on the centre’s social media channels.
