Work begins on repairing road into Burke’s Garden

BURKE‘S GARDEN, W.Va. – Crews began repairs on state route 623 into Burke’s Garden.

A portion of the road has been turned into a one lane after Hurricane Helene caused the collapse of part of the road.

Tazewell County Administrator Eric Young said the road will hopefully be fixed in three weeks.

In the meantime, a traffic light has been set up for the one lane section.

Young also says along with the inconvenience of the traffic light the road is also causing issues for the agricultural community in the Garden.

“The other issue is we really want to get that done because agriculturally they have some livestock they need to get to market and right now they would struggle to do that on the road as it is,” said Young.

The Burke’s Garden Fall Festival was cancelled due to concerns of high traffic on the compromised road.
