Amanda Holden said she was branded ‘annoying’ by her husband after getting on the wrong side of him and their daughter following a recent mishap in their family home.

Speaking on this morning’s Heart Breakfast show, the 53-year-old admitted that she was at fault as the incident ensued at home while she was in work.

Speaking to co-host JK, Amanda explained how she had taken her 12-year-old daughter’s phone off of her as it is the ‘only thing that makes her behaviour better’. She said: “So, I took the phone and I hid it and I absolutely could not remember where I’d hit it and I was actually thinking, oh my gosh this is it, I’m starting to go downhill already.”

But, as she was working on a project in Rye, England, with someone ‘very special’ for something that we’ll ‘see at Christmas’, the Heart Radio presenter added: “All I was doing was getting calls from my husband and my daughter, who’s off school. Chris (her husband) was saying ‘look, I get the punishment but you’ve turned my life upside down’.”

Amanda said she spent hours looking for it when she returned home at half past eight, but confirmed that she was finally successful in her mission: “So, I found it. Hollie was breaking her heart, apparently I was called everything under the sun, but she denies it. And then she said ‘well, you want to know what, daddy actually said that you were annoying’. And I went ‘yeah, I’m sure he did’ because you’ve been searching for it for eight hours.”

After finally finding her daughter’s lost phone, the radio host revealed that it had been hidden away in her ‘TV room’: “I’ve got a side table in there where I’ve got a really nice book on a display thing, and I had slid it into the triangle of the stand.”

Besides her youngest daughter Hollie, Amanda and her husband Chris Hughes also have an older daughter, Alexa, aged 18.

Amanda first joined the Heart Breakfast team in April 2019, when she replaced the former Spice Girl, Emma Bunton. Expressing her delight upon joining the show over five years ago, she said: “I’ve spent years in the car listening to Heart while travelling to work or doing the school run with my daughters. So it feels incredibly surreal to be announced as the new national Breakfast co-presenter alongside the fab Jamie Theakston.”
