Danilo took the latest step forward in his recovery as he netted for Rangers B as part of a 60 minute runout.

The Light Blues will now face Championship outfit Queen’s Park in the quarter-final stage of the SPFL Trust Trophy following their 4-1 triumph over Stenhousemuir. The striker – who arrived for big money under former boss Michael Beale – has spent extended spells out as he looks to overcome his latest injury and get back into the first-team fold to help out his team-mates and bring another option to the forward line alongside Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane.

Ianis Hagi – who is now back in the top team picture – was also in action and back on the scoresheet once again as he ups his match sharpness after missing out on the defeat at Rugby Park to Kilmarnock due to suspension. He’s also not part of the Europa League squad so the B team clash was another ideal chance for Philippe Clement, in attendance at Forthbank Stadium, to put minutes in the legs of his attacker.

It was a comfortable evening for David McCallum’s men with Findlay Curtis also bagging a double alongside solo efforts from Danilo and Hagi. Blair Alston netted for the League One outfit, which proved a consolation in the end. The likes of Clinton Nsiala, Leon King and Zak Lovelace were also in action for Rangers B who advance to the last eight to face Callum Davidson’s Spiders.
