An Edinburgh-based comedian left his audience in stitches after poking fun at the differences between Scottish accents.

Connor Burns, 29, humorously criticised his own accent in a recent video clip. He described being “stuck with this s***e Edinburgh accent” and compared it to a bow and arrow — branding it as the country’s “least intimidating” dialect.

As reported by Edinburgh Live, the comedian shared a brief snippet from one of his performances on TikTok. He captioned the video: “I was slagging my accent way before you were!”

In the video, Burns states: “I’ve been stuck with this s***e Edinburgh accent. It’s the least intimidating accent ever.

Glasgow, that’s a f***ing intimidating accent right? The Glasgow accent is so good at being aggressive because it sounds like a gun.

“Edinburgh is terrible, because it sounds more like a bow and arrow.”

Since being posted last week, the video has since been viewed more than 12,000 times. It has also received almost 450 likes, while others took to the comments to share their thoughts on the clip.

One TikTok user said: “I call folk fae Edinburgh ‘the vowel people’, cos they say, ‘I’ (aye), ‘A’ (Eh?), ‘e’ (eh) and ‘u’ (you) way too much.”

Earlier this year, Connor made news when his show at the Edinburgh Fringe had to be evacuated due to someone “lighting up a cigarette” in the toilets. At the time, he commented: “I was gutted to lose my sold-out Friday night show which for the three minutes I was on stage was the funniest crowd a comedian could possibly want to have.”
