If you consider yourself a fashionista you need Lucy & Yak on your radar.

This Brighton-based brand might not get the same hype around their drops as the likes of M&S (their entire Bella Freud collection sold out within a day), but their items are no-less loved.

After months of speculation, on October 22 the unisex store released a leopard print version of their much loved fleece, and it quickly sold out.

Their Stevie Fleece in leopard print went on sale at 10am, and within 90 minutes, it was no longer available in any sizes, which run from a UK 6 to 32.

The brand then added more stock to their site, but at the time of writing, it’s only available to add to basket in sizes M, 3XL and 4XL.

One fan on Instagram called the fleece ‘a must’ while another said ‘oh my god I’m in love.’ A third summed up her feelings with one word: ‘phwoar’.

And, there were heartbroken shoppers, with one disappointed fan asking just after 11am: ‘Already sold out in my size. Will there be a fast restock?’

For those in the know, Lucy & Yak is a big deal. They have a 30,000 strong Facebook group, The Lucy & Yak Official Community, keeping members up to date with the latest launches, and sharing thoughts on sizing and fit.

And it’s not the first time their drops have had people waiting by their phones as though their Glastonbury tickets.

Their Ragan Jumpsuit is often sold out, with the heart-print colourway a fan favourite on TikTok. But perhaps their most popular products are their dungarees – the brand’s hero item, which actually launched Lucy & Yak’s clothing range. The sunflower print is one of their bestsellers.

Lucy & Yak started back in 2014, when founder Lucy, and her partner Chris, were travelling around New Zealand. They originally began selling homemade pouches made from pre-loved clothes.

Back in the UK, they bought a van, Yak, and began living, working and travelling around in it, selling vintage clothes on Depop.

Soon, they pivoted into manufacturing their own products and Lucy & Yak was born, exclusively selling dungarees on Depop.

They opened their first shop in Brighton in 2019 and now have 10 stores around the UK, including two in Brighton.

Although the brand is yet to open a permanent store London, it’s a big month for the Lucy & Yak, as they partner up with Shelter for a central London pop-up shop from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 November.

The charity store in London’s Coal Drops Yard will sell pre-loved items, all with a focus on feeling cosy for winter – so think fleeces, snuggly jumpers and knitwear.

As well as buying items, shoppers can also donate their own Lucy & Yak clothes.

Lucy Greenwood, co-founder of Lucy & Yak said: ‘Since 2017, Lucy & Yak has been bringing comfort to the people.

‘Comfort isn’t just a feeling, we all deserve to feel good, in our clothes and our spaces. That’s why we have partnered with Shelter to present The Comfort Store.

‘With the growing popularity of online marketplaces, charity shops are struggling with donations. It’s important to remember that if you want to find hidden gems at your local charity shop, you also need to donate them and that’s what we hope to raise awareness around as a further thread of our partnership with Shelter.’
