A woman has shared the remarkable transformation of her “chicken skin” and “strawberry legs”, crediting significant improvement to a single addition in her skincare regimen. Commonly experienced, strawberry legs manifest with dark or red spots akin to strawberry seeds, often due to clogged hair follicles or pores with impurities like dirt, oil, dead cells or bacteria.

Meanwhile, ‘chicken skin’, technically referred to as keratosis pilaris or KP, is another skin concern characterised by goosebump-like bumps where hair follicles are present. Frequently seen on upper arms, it can also affect other areas.

The NHS explains that KP results from the blockage of hair follicles caused by excess keratin, whose buildup remains somewhat of a mystery but is believed to be hereditary. One individual struggling with the condition turned to the popular online community ‘Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It‘ with over 200K followers, posting a before-and-after snapshot of her legs following the use of Good Skin’s Power of the Peel Exfoliating Mitts.

In the ‘before’ picture, her legs were marred by dark, almost purple dots—clearly visible and stark against her skin. However, in the ‘after’ photo, there was a remarkable transformation with her legs appearing significantly smoother and the spots faded to pale, nearly invisible marks akin to standard pores.

It appeared as if her condition had been completely treated. Adding a caption to the images, she penned: “Hi everyone, please be kind! After seeing the peel thing in this group I got one for myself, I suffer from KP skin (chicken skin). I absolutely love this group for finding tips. I hope admin allows this post – yes I know, it’s not cleaning house, more cleaning skin – just wanted to thank whoever shared it. Wow, what a difference! No mean comments, please.”

Enthusiasts flocked to the comment section to express their amazement and seek advice. One person queried: “Omg what peel thing! I suffer so bad with kp”.

Another revealed: “My skin is like that and I’ve always wondered why, thought it was just open pores. Looks awful even after I have shaved.”

A third enthusiastic Facebook user commented: “Oh wow this is fab, you must be so happy. My daughter suffers on her arms and we tried a special exfoliation thing but it didn’t work. What is it you are using? And well done for the share, it’s brilliant”.

In acknowledgement, the original poster wrote back: “Thank you, awww bless her. I think a lot of women get this on their arms and legs, so I use this mitt, power of peel, two to three times a week”. She also indicated she intended to stock up on the product for her daughter.

According to the product website, the mitt provides “gentle, yet powerful exfoliation”, is reusable, and handmade, promising users “healthy, glowing skin”. For those suffering from keratosis pilaris and ‘strawberry legs’, other remedies include using gentle, fragrance-free moisturisers, mild and unperfumed soaps and bathing products, and taking lukewarm showers and baths instead of hot ones.
