Firefighters scrambled to put out a fire on a Scots motorway this afternoon – after a car burst into flames while it was stationed on the motorway.

The incident took place on the M90 on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Two fire engines headed to the motorway’s northbound carriageway.

The car was between the village of Crook of Devon, in Kinross-shire, and the burgh of Kinross, Perth and Kinross, when the alarm was raised at around 5.43pm.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze just after 6.45pm. There were no reported injuries following the incident.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 5.53pm to reports of a car fire on the M90. Two appliances were mobilised from Perth.”

The STV News website reports the spokesperson’s statement continued: “The stop message came in at 6.46pm. There were no reports of any injuries.”
