Lanarkshire’s Lord Lieutenant is encouraging residents to nominate people for the 2025 King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) as the deadline approaches.
The award is the highest given to volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities.
Created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), the accolade has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups for many years.
Equivalent to an MBE, KAVS is the highest award given to local voluntary groups – and they are awarded for life.
Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Susan Haughey CBE, said: “I am very much aware of the many groups in the county where so many volunteers give freely of their talents and time for the benefit of others.
“I would encourage anyone who is aware of a group providing exceptional service in their area to consider nominating them for an award..”
Nominations for the awards need to be submitted online by December 1.
